Now that the holidays are past the Board of Directors (BOD) gathered for a special meeting on January 10th, 2017 to peer into the future with respect to locations to raise salmon and in what form. At the meeting a committee was formed, chaired by Leonard Forsythe, to research the availability of locations and to what stage the fish are to be raised. The methodology, location or locations will be incorporated into a paper to be presented to the BOD at its next official meeting in February 2017.
During the meeting a short discussion ensued to address the Margaree Salmon Association's request to meet with WSU for the purposes of investigating the possibility of working together on various endeavours. A few areas were highlighted for example, school programs, joint fundraising dinners and fishing derbies. The joint meeting of the MSA and WSU executives will take place at the MSA's office on January 17th, 2017.
