The pre-annual general meeting (AGM) Board meeting was held 11/2 hours prior to the AGM at St. Patrick's Parish Hall, NE Margaree and involved preparation for the big meeting. Bob Shortt, nominations chair indicated all current Board members agreed to stay on except Clifford Boudreau. Bob indicated he was attempting to get members from outside the area to sit on the Board and communicate electronically during meetings. He asked President Wall if he could investigate methods to do that and Wall agreed. John Stinson, said that the Margaree Salmon Association was thinking along the same lines and maybe both groups could share equipment costs. That to be pursued once the method is identified.
Chuck Thompson suggested that President Wall write a letter to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans requesting the full report of the work they led on the Eastern Cape Breton rivers in 2016-2017. WSU funded, in part, that work and Wall said he would send the letter.
Harry Vickers, long time president of the Cape Breton Anglers Association said he was stepping down from that position after decades of service. He indicated he would ask the group for direction as to who would represent them on the WSU Board. In the meantime, he would stay as their representative.
The financial report was reviewed and approved.
