March Board Meeting

The Board met on March 24th, 2017 at the usual location, the New Horizons Senior's Club in East Margaree. The main purpose of this meeting was to review last year's activities and focus our direction for 2017. At present, we've not received the final report on the The Grand River project, but the Inverness South Angler's Association had good success with their enhancement program albeit not so successful with kelt collection.

The majority of the meeting time was devoted to discussion about the recent announcement by Fisheries and Oceans about bringing Atlantic Salmon numbers to 1975 levels. In the end, those present expressed confidence in our approach which is, basically, to stock rivers. What methodology to use will depend on the process that Fisheries and Oceans will allow. All felt it important to request a meeting with the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans to outline our position. President Wall was asked to write the letter. As of today, the letter is in the mail. We'll keep you posted.
